Student charged after shooting at Winton Woods athletic building

FOREST PARK, Ohio (WXIX) - A Winton Woods High School student is now facing charges in connection with gunshots fired at the school’s athletic building, according to the Forest Park Police Department. The shooting happened Tuesday. A day later, police said they identified two suspects: one “school-aged individual and a second individual who is not a student.” Detectives got an arrest warrant for one of the suspects on Wednesday, and later that night, the 15-year-old Winton Woods student turned himself in at the police department, Forest Park police explained. The teen’s grandmother came with the 15-year-old to turn himself in, police said. Forest Park police say the Winton Woods student is now facing the following charges: Illegal conveyance and possession of a deadly weapon upon school grounds Police said Thursday that Tuesday’s shooting was an isolated incident. “There are no known current threats to students, staff, or the community,” Forest Park police explained.
