Suspect arrested in Scottsdale shooting that left 1 dead, 1 wounded

SCOTTSDALE, AZ — A suspect was arrested in connection with a shooting in Scottsdale early Sunday morning that left one person dead and another with life-threatening injuries, according to Scottsdale Police Department officials.Just before 1:30 a.m., Scottsdale police officers were called to an area near Saddlebag Trail and Camelback Road due to reports of gunfire.Officers arrived to find two people with gunshot wounds. They were taken to an area hospital for treatment, but one of the victims passed away and the other was listed in critical condition.Police identified the suspect as 22-year-old Jeremy La’Twan Campbell Jr. Officials said Bike Unit officers located Campbell after the shooting and took him into custody “after a short foot pursuit and tasing” just south of where the shooting occurred.Investigators believe the incident stemmed from two fights at around 1 a.m. and 1:15 a.m. in front of two separate nightclubs in the Old Town area near Saddlebag Trail and Camelback Road.
