Suspect in fatal Barberton stabbing arrested in Arizona, charged with murder, according to police

BARBERTON, Ohio – A 35-year-old man identified as Marcos Antonio Huerta-Garcia has been arrested and charged with murder in the fatal stabbing of a 26-year-old woman in Barberton, according to WKYC, media partner of cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer. Huerta-Garcia, who is a native of Mexcio, was caught while trying to leave the country. He is currently in an Arizona jail waiting extradition to Ohio, WKYC reported. “Through partnering law enforcement agencies from across the country and the use of automated license plate reader technology, he was located attempting to flee to Mexico,” the police department stated. “He was stopped and arrested near the border by the Arizona Department of Public Safety on Highway I-8 around mile marker 67 Dateland in Yuma County, Arizona.” The news outlet reported that Huerta-Garcia had been working in the United States and living in the same home as the stabbing victim.
