The man involved in a shooting incident with New Mexico State Police and the Mora County Sheriff's Department has been charged with second-degree murder. Alejandro Vigil was injured in the August 16 shooting on New Mexico State Road 518 in Mora County. He is accused of killing Amity Maes after a dispute. Vigil faces a charge of second-degree murder, five counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer, aggravated fleeing of a law enforcement officer, aggravated battery against a household member, false imprisonment, and possession of firearms or destructive devices by certain persons. He will make his first court appearance on September 8.
