Suspect killed after firing at McMinnville officers in 6-hour standoff

A tense standoff on Dogwood Point Road ended with one person dead after police spent several hours trying to safely resolve a domestic situation. Police said they went to a home around 12:30 p.m. 3 after receiving a report of a fight inside the home involving children. The suspect was standing outside armed and had additional weapons and ammunition nearby, police said. When officers arrived, the suspect quickly ran back inside and locked himself in, police said.
