Teen critically injured in Cross Island Parkway rollover crash in Queens

WHITESTONE, Queens (WABC) -- A teenager suffered critical head injuries after being ejected from an overturned car in a violent crash on the Cross Island Parkway in Queens Saturday night, police said. The 19-year-old passenger was rushed to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens in critical condition after the crash in Whitestone around 9:15 p.m. According to investigators, a 19-year-old driver behind the wheel of a 2020 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on the Cross Island Parkway when he attempted to merge from the left lane into the middle lane, failed to navigate the roadway and slammed into the rear of a 2008 Honda Accord. The Camry then overturned. Police said two passengers in the Camry, a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man, were ejected onto the roadway.
