A young woman killed in an apparent murder-attempted suicide has been identified as a 19-year-old Alabama State University student. Kalyn Smith, killed early Monday in Montgomery, is the second ASU student killed in less than a month in reported domestic incidents. Ava Walters, a sophomore at ASU, was found fatally strangled Sunday, Aug. 23, at a hotel where the university was housing students while dorms are under renovation. Her boyfriend has been charged.
