Teen’s Christmas mission reaches hundreds of nursing home residents across Central Indiana
WISH-TV reports: INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — What started as a 5-year-old’s Christmas wish has grown into a regional effort bringing holiday joy to hundreds of nursing home residents each year. Ava McQueen, now 19, founded The Christmas Cuddle Project after visiting her great-aunt at a Lebanon nursing home during the holidays. “I said, ‘Mommy, I feel bad because no one else has a gift,’”Ava said. “There’s so many residents that sometimes don’t even get anyone to visit them or especially a gift.” Ava was about 5 or 6 years old when she and her mother, Michele McQueen, brought a Christmas present to her great-aunt at the nursing home.
