MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — An off-campus East Valley high school football coach is now in custody after shots were reportedly fired during a road rage situation in Mesa last month. Mesa police responded to reports of shots fired around 7 p.m. on Aug. 21 near Country Club Drive and Juanita Avenue . When officers arrived, police said they found vehicle debris, two .40-caliber shell casings and a black metal drinking cup that was engraved with “Coach Curtis” in the road. Witnesses reportedly told police they heard between two and six gunshots after a tan truck and a dark-colored sedan crashed.

Curtis was booked on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, disorderly conduct with a deadly weapon and unlawful discharge of a firearm. He’s facing seven counts of voyeurism and is being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
