The Tennessee Secondary Scholastic Athletic Association classified Christ Presbyterian Academy’s football team in DII-AA for 2027 after the school questioned the “competitive integrity” of the larger DII-AAA division. CPA told FOX17 News on Tuesday it will opt for an independent football schedule in 2027 with the expectation that the team will classify in DI-AAA. “A significant structural disparity exists within Division II AAA. Boarding schools possess the unique ability to house and enroll students nationally and internationally. Because boarding schools and day schools operate under fundamentally different enrollment models, the Division II AAA structure perpetuates a competitive imbalance for day schools, regardless of any individual school’s intentions,” the school says in a statement.
