‘Terror. Don’t know if someone is still alive in there’: Witnesses capture aftermath of Seldovia plane crash on video

SELDOVIA, Alaska (KTUU) - Four people are dead following a Piper PA-24 crash in Seldovia on Wednesday afternoon. On Thursday, Alaska State Troopers identified the people on board as Alaska pilot Eric Middlebrook and California residents Ronald Schmidt, Lance Schmidt and Daniel Simons. “Very tragic, very, very terrible,” Lindsay Burnett, who was visiting from Arkansas, said. “We heard it happen. We heard the plane taking off and heard it crash.” Burnett told Alaska’s News Source that after the plane crashed, her family rushed to Seldovia Slough, where the plane had crashed. “Bubbles were still coming up,” Burnett said. According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the plane was submerged within the tidal zone, close to the shoreline, in around 13 to 14 feet of water. Burnett said that when she arrived at the scene, people were already in the water attempting to help out. “People were diving.
