Texas volleyball: Track athlete Mackenzie Collins joins volleyball for 2026 season

Texas volleyball received a surprise addition to its roster with Thursday’s start of preseason camp when Longhorns track and field athlete Mackenzie Collins announced she will join the squad. A rising second-year athlete, Collins originally committed to play volleyball for Texas A&M coming out of Shadow Creek High School south of Houston. But she ended up competing in track at Texas and was an early enrollee in the spring of 2025. She competed primarily in the 200- and 400-meter dashes and the 400-meter hurdles this past spring, finishing seventh in the 400 hurdles at the SEC outdoor championships. Now, Collins will race back into volleyball after two years away from the sport.
