‘This was Troy’s shop’: Staff vow to keep Upstate tattoo shop open after owner killed in shooting

BOILING SPRINGS, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - An Upstate tattoo shop is remembering its beloved owner after deputies say he was shot and killed inside the business late Thursday night. The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office said 44-year-old Troy Conner died at the hospital after Wade Christopher Kastner Jr. shot him inside Ill Ink Tattoos on Boiling Springs Road. “Last night we lost our friend, business partner, and one of the people who made Ill Ink what it is, Troy Conner,” the shop shared in a statement. Staff described Conner as a devoted father and dedicated artist who was always willing to lend a helping hand. “He helped everyone he could, usually without expecting anything in return, and he was an awesome artist who genuinely cared about what he did,” the shop said. “Losing him this way is something none of us know how to make sense of.
