More than 17,000 people across western North Carolina are experiencing power outages due to severe thunderstorm warnings across the region Tuesday evening. Per Duke Energy's outage map , a majority of these outages are concentrated in Asheville and surrounding areas. As of 8:20 p.m., there are more than 12,000 outages in and around Buncombe County. The outage map shows approximately 1,000 outages each in the Waynesville, Andrews, Franklin and Bryson City areas.
