Deputies with the sheriff's office Animal Control Division responded Sunday to a home in the 300 block of Jefferson Drive, according to a release. They found a black and white pit bull-type dog dead inside a truck with only one window partially open. Investigators determined that Mel Burham, Hailey Tollie and Michael Walser put the dog inside the vehicle and left, the sheriff's office said.

Burham, Tollie and Walser were each charged with one felony count of animal cruelty and one misdemeanor count of instigating animal cruelty. Burham and Tollie each received a $1,000 secured bond.
