The trial of a man charged in a 2023 Amarillo shooting that left two people dead and five others injured resumes Wednesday after prosecutors called six witnesses during the first day of testimony. Jose Luis Arevalo Flores III faces two counts of murder and four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the shooting at an event center near SW 45th Avenue and Georgia Street. According to police, a fight broke out amongst some of the attendees. Sometime during the fight, Flores started shooting. Semagea Smith, 32, and DeQuincton Taylor, 28, were killed.
