The police watchdog is continuing to investigate a crash involving a Volkswagen Passat and marked police car that saw all seven occupants of both cars killed. Two of those that were killed in the crash - on the A66 near Middlesbrough in the early hours of Saturday morning - were Cleveland Police officers Matthew Blades, 37, and 38-year-old Tom Clough. All five occupants in the Passat, said to be in their late teens to early 20s, were also killed. Their identities have not yet been officially confirmed. The BBC understands a police pursuit of the car had ended before the crash, which police say occurred while the Passat was driving the wrong way down the A66.
