CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Two brothers and habitual felons face nearly 200 charges after one allegedly shot a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer this week, according to arrest warrants. Dionte McCracking, 28, and Jatarius McCracking, 27, were both arrested in September 2026 and face a combined 190 charges, police said. Their alleged crimes include breaking and entering into motor vehicles, shooting into an occupied dwelling and possession of a firearm by a felon. Dionte McCracking accounts for 62 of those charges, including attempted murder of a law enforcement officer after he was arrested for allegedly shooting a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer on Sept. Jatarius McCracking, who was arrested a few days prior, faces 128 charges connected to several shootings, motor vehicle thefts and other serious crimes, according to arrest warrants.
