In a statement posted on Facebook, Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Chair-at-Large Phyllis Randall urged parents to discuss the dangers of e-bikes and other motorized devices with their children. "Loudoun parents, please know it's with respect for you and concern for your children I say the following," Randall wrote. "Neither I, nor any other elected official or employee in the Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Department or Sheriff's Department can address the negative, often dangerous or even deadly results of an accident your child may have on an e-bike, scooter or dirt bike." "Many of these motorized bikes are not legal to be on public roads, let alone divided highways," she continued. "Parents, if you purchase these for your child, and they ride them on public roads, your child is at high risk for injury or worse." The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about the incident to call 703-777-1021.
