One person is dead following a crash in a construction zone on Interstate 79 late on Friday. The call came in just before 11:40 p.m. for a three-vehicle crash with an ejection near Elkview, according to an off-duty paramedic on the scene who relayed that information to Metro 911, according to a Metro supervisor there Saturday morning. Later on Saturday, Sgt. Jeremy Burns of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office confirmed that a man driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup southbound on Interstate 79 "exited [the] roadway into [a] construction zone" and struck a parked dump truck. The man "rear-ended the dump truck, ejecting him," according to Burns.
