UPDATE: Chattanooga man charged with attempted murder after shooting man in neck

UPDATE: New details are emerging from the nearly fatal shooting on Tunnel Boulevard last Monday. According to an affidavit obtained by Local 3 News, the 41-year-old victim was shot in the neck after a fight in the parking lot of a church on Tunnel Boulevard around 9:43pm on Monday, September 7. First responders found him beat up and losing blood. Right before paramedics arrived to take him to the hospital, the victim told an officer the nickname for the person that hit and shot him: “Paper.” Police say investigators searched the nickname in an internal database from previous police incidents, which showed that it was 31-year-old Devonta Shepherd’s “street name.” Security camera footage from the church recorded the fight between the presumed victim and suspect, reportedly showing the suspect swinging at and chasing the victim, who fell to the ground. The victim managed to get to his feet a minute and a half after the initial strike.
