ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Newly obtained video shows crews using a helicopter to pull the wreckage of a small plane from the Seldovia Slough a day after a crash killed all four people aboard. The Piper PA-24 was flying from Merrill Field Airport to Seldovia Wednesday afternoon when it went down in the water and submerged, according to Alaska State Troopers. Troopers were notified of the crash at 1:18 p.m. The victims have been identified as pilot Eric Middlebrook, 68, of Alaska, and passengers Ronald Schmidt, 65, Lance Schmidt, 20, and Daniel Simons, 82, all of California. Troopers recovered the four bodies from inside the plane around 6:30 p.m.
