Two of Miami International Airport’s four runways remained closed on Tuesday after the fatal cargo plane crash in Miami-Dade County, according to the Miami-Dade Aviation Department. As this prompted flight cancelations and delays, Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz asked travelers on Tuesday to check with their airlines for the status of their flights. The crash site also affected car traffic. Cordero-Stutz said Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies closed Northwest 67 Avenue from 25th to 32nd streets. “Our airport operations bureau and incident management team remain on scene to maintain security, preserve the integrity of the scene, and assist with traffic control,” Cordero-Stutz said. Five people died, and five were injured after a Boeing 767-300 overtook MIA’s runway 30 shortly before 2 p.m. on Sunday and struck a white 2012 Ford E-150 Econoline van and a Toyota Corolla Cross LE, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.
