Watson bought himself some breathing room in Tampa — but Cleveland's home crowd is still a wild card

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Browns fans heading into the home opener have a complicated relationship with their starting quarterback. And Browns beat reporter Mary Kay Cabot isn’t pretending otherwise. On the Orange and Brown Talk podcast , Cabot broke the fan base down into two distinct groups when it comes to Deshaun Watson — and she was direct about which group is reachable and which one isn’t. “If you hated Deshaun Watson because of the football, then by all means you should kind of be curious and climb back on board a little bit and give him the benefit of the doubt,” she said. “If you hated Deshaun Watson because of his off-the-field transgressions, then stay hating Deshaun Watson because that doesn’t have anything to do with football. So that segment of the population is probably not going to change how it feels about Deshaun Watson.” That’s a candid assessment — and an honest one.
