A tornado watch and a severe thunderstorm watch were allowed to expire early from the National Weather Service after severe storms slammed the DC metro Tuesday afternoon . Additional showers, and even an isolated thunderstorm, are still possible through about midnight, but they should be non-severe. Skies will gradually clear overnight as the cold front associated with this weather maker moves through. We will round out the final days of July with sunnier, calmer weather and temperatures close to seasonal averages.
