A man and woman from Muhlenberg County found dead of gunshot wounds died in an apparent murder-suicide, Kentucky State Police said. Patrick Kirk, 57, and Mary Stewart, 44, both of Bremen, were found shot at a home on Twin Springs Road in Bremen on Tuesday, after deputies from the Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call for a welfare check. State police said the sheriff’s office contacted them for assistance with the investigation at 11:37 a.m. An autopsy was conducted Thursday. State police said the preliminary investigation indicated that Kirk shot Stewart and then himself.
