A Chicopee man is facing 13 charges after shooting a minor in Springfield Saturday night, according to police . Xavier Horne, 21, pleaded not guilty to assault and battery with a firearm, assault with a dangerous weapon and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building during his arraignment in Springfield District Court on Monday, according to court records. He also pleaded not guilty to seven illegal firearm charges and three drug charges. Around 9:20 p.m., officers responded to Hollywood Street following multiple reports of gunfire. The preliminary investigation indicates Horne and at least one other person, who police have not yet identified, fired gunshots from a car.

A juvenile male was struck by the gunfire and injured, police said. During Horneโs arraignment, a judge ordered him held pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Sept. Later that night, around 11:40 p.m., officers arrested Horne in connection with the shooting, police said.
