Westfield High School shooting: 14-year-old accused of fatally shooting Westfield HS student charged with murder, HCSO says

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- The 14-year-old suspect arrested in connection with the deadly shooting of a Westfield High School student has been charged with murder, a day after his arrest, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office said the fatal shooting happened just before 3 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon in the sidewalk area adjacent to Westfield High School and a Spring ISD building. The suspect was arrested on Wednesday. According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, 15-year-old Royce Witchet and the 14-year-old suspect had some sort of altercation that led up to the shooting. HCSO said the suspect is believed to also be a student in Spring ISD. HCSO said Witchet was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after the shooting.
