Wildfires continue to burn across Texas as drought and extreme heat fuel dangerous fire conditions across the region. Hot, dry and occasionally windy weather has left grasses and other vegetation highly receptive to fire, allowing flames to spread quickly. Several fires, including the Ross Fire , have burned tens of thousands of acres in recent days, prompting evacuations, road closures and other disruptions in communities across North Texas.
