INDIANAPOLIS — A Maryland man is being accused of shooting a man several times in Indianapolis over a $40 attempted drug purchase dispute . Charles Cox, 46, of Chaptico, Maryland, was charged with aggravated battery. This is a Level 3 felony. IMPD officers responded to a hotel in the 9000 block of Wesleyan Road , near Michigan Road and Interstate 465, for a report of a shooting around 1:45 a.m. When officers arrived at the hotel, they said they saw a man with multiple gunshot wounds in the lobby.

According to court documents, there was a "large quantity" of bloodstains throughout the hotel lobby. When Cox was being taken into custody, he allegedly made comments about being "robbed" earlier in the evening and/or someone trying to kill him.
