By the end of October, county and conference champions will be crowned in girls soccer across the state of New Jersey. Rutgers Prep has a major target on its back as the two-time reigning county champions and three-time reigning Non-Public B champions. There is no team in the state under more of a microscope than the Argonauts, and that intensified with a 1-1 draw against Bridgewater-Raritan in its season opener. Since then the Argonauts, No. 1 in the NJ.com Top 20, have answered the bell with five straight dominant wins. It has scored six goals in every single one of those games, and has won four of them by shutout. Those are expected performances out of the No. 1 team in New Jersey. There’s a lot of youth in this year’s lineup, so the experience of players like Blair Vera, Savannah De Barros, Anna-Jane Mathey, Sandra O’Neill, Gladys Robinson, and Jordan Reigrod will be amplified as the Argonauts look to win another title. Bridgewater-Raritan is the lone Public school team in the Skyland that has proven it can compete with the league’s Non-Public programs.
