Witness recounts seeing Fort Myers plane crash into water off Boca Raton coast, pilot unharmed

BOCA RATON, FLA. (WSVN) - A plane crashed into the ocean off the coast of Boca Raton, leaving one witness watching the dramatic moments that unfolded. The plane was captured on cell phone video flying close to the ocean, before it quickly hit the water on Saturday morning. “What the?” said Craig Sutton, who captured video of the crash near South Beach Park. “Oh, that’s unexpected.” “250 South Ocean, it looks like an airplane crashed into the water.” was heard over the Broadcastify police scanner. “Aircraft crash at 250 South Ocean Boulevard.” The aircraft, a Piper PA-30, had taken off from Paige Field in Fort Myers and was headed to South Bimini in the Bahamas when the pilot declared an emergency, according to investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration. The plane went down at around 2:40 a.m., two miles east of Boca Raton Airport. I saw them standing on the wing and jumping in the water and walking off.
