Woman found dead in NW Portland apartment after reported assault

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - A woman was found dead in a northwest Portland apartment after the report of an assault on Wednesday afternoon, according to police. Just after 12:30 p.m., officers with the Portland Police Bureau were sent to an apartment building near Northwest Hoyt Street and Northwest 18th Avenue after person called about a possible assault. Police said they found a woman dead inside the apartment and any suspects had left the area before they arrived. Police said the woman’s cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner. During the investigation, Northwest Irving Street is closed between Northwest 17th Avenue and Northwest 18th Avenue, and Northwest 18th Avenue is closed between Northwest Hoyt Street and Northwest Irving Street.
