One person was hit and killed by an Amtrak train Friday night in Raleigh. Raleigh police responded around 8:45 p.m. to Beryl Road and Powell Street after receiving a report about a person being hit by a train. Police said, according to their preliminary investigation, the woman was trying to walk across the train tracks when she was hit. The train was coming from Charlotte to Raleigh when the accident happened, according to Amtrak. Amtrak said there were 69 people on board, and no one was injured.
