Woman injured in accidental shooting at home in Northwest Omaha

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is investigating an accidental shooting that happened Saturday night. DCSO says the shooting happened near 88th and Kimball Streets, close to Sorenson Parkway and Ida Streets. Deputies responded around 9:30 p.m. to a home where they found a 49-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to her leg. She was transported to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. DCSO says the woman’s 50-year-old husband, who was the one who called 911, told deputies that he was cleaning his firearm in his upstairs office when it accidentally discharged.
