Woman injured, man dies after head-on collision near Pfafftown on Olivet Church Road

One week after a serious crash in Forsyth County on Olivet Church Road, a man has died in the hospital. According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 6 p.m. on September 11 near Tomahawk Road near Pfafftown. Multiple audience members and a witness told WXII 12 News that the crash had a stretch of Olivet Church Road blocked that Friday night. Get the latest news stories of interest by clicking here The investigation by troopers concluded that a Honda Civic – operated by Matthew Tharington – was traveling on Olivet Church Road when it tried to pass a vehicle in a "no-passing zone," which had double solid lines. Troopers said Tharington crashed head-on with a Subaru Outback.
