Placer County District Attorney Morgan Gire said the victim was Cheryl Barron, a woman she said worked for the department from 2006 until 2020. Gire said Barron’s connection to her office went “far beyond” just her years of service. “The loss of Cheryl is devastating to our office and to the entire community,” she said in a statement. “Our hearts are with her family, her friends and everyone who knew and loved her.
