Woman killed by gunman during manhunt was former Placer County DA's Office employee

The woman who was shot and killed by a man during a manhunt previously worked in the Placer County District Attorney's Office, according to officials. The DA's office said Cheryl Macy worked in the office from 2006 to 2020. Officials did not confirm what her position with the office was. "She was a valued colleague, a friend, and a cherished member of our DA family," the DA's office said in a statement. "The loss of Cheryl is devastating to our office and to the entire community. Our hearts are with her family, and everyone who knew and loved her.
