Woman killed in Times Square stabbing; suspect told police, 'I will kill you,' NYPD says

A woman who allegedly stabbed two people, one fatally, in Times Square on Monday was shot by New York police after what officials described as a “random and unprovoked” attack. NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said during a news conference that the victims were stabbed within 20 seconds of each other near 41st Street and Seventh Avenue. Two knives were recovered at the scene. The first victim, a 68-year-old man from Rhode Island, had just exited the subway and was standing with his wife while waiting to cross the street when the suspect pulled two knives from a red Target bag, waved them and stabbed him in the right side of the abdomen, a witness told investigators. The man was in stable condition, Tisch said.
