Woman on the run in Helena business owner’s fatal stabbing wrote bizarre letters to his sons

A 32-year-old woman accused in the stabbing death of her 68-year-old boyfriend wrote letters to his sons while she was on the run for nearly a year. Anastassja “Anya” Cooper, of Irondale, is charged with murder in the slaying Jeffery Holifield, who was the owner of Cahaba Woodworks in Helena. Cooper’s attorney, John Robbins, in August drove her to surrender to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency in Selma. He said she has no memory of the incident in which she is charged. She is being held without bond pending a ruling by Perry County Judge Robert Bryant pending the outcome of an Aniah’s Law hearing that was held Wednesday.
