Woman shot by Kansas City police after hitting patrol car Sunday morning

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A woman was shot by Kansas City police early Sunday morning after she reportedly hit a patrol car and led officers on a short chase near the North Hyde Park neighborhood. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the lead investigating agency, at about 3:25 a.m., two KCPD officers in one patrol vehicle stopped a Toyota pickup truck for traffic violations near East 34th Street and Gillham Road -- just south of Costco, and between East Armour Boulevard and Linwood Boulevard. As the officers were getting out of their car, the driver of the Toyota reportedly backed into their patrol vehicle, leading both officers to fire their weapons at the suspect's truck. The suspect, later identified as a woman, attempted to drive from the scene but pulled over near the intersection of East 33rd and Holmes Street shortly after. The woman was taken into custody at 3:26 a.m. and found to be suffering from a gunshot wound.
