Woman shot by SPD in domestic violence incident in critical condition

A Seattle Police Department Officer and a man were injured Friday morning when a domestic violence incident near Seattle’s Jose Rizal Park ended in shots exchanged between police and a woman who had barricaded herself inside an apartment. In a press conference Friday afternoon and a statement released shortly afterward, SPD and SPD Interim Chief Sayles said police responded to calls about a domestic violence incident around 8 am. When police arrived on the 900 block of Golf Drive South, they found a man with a laceration on his face. After the man was sent to the hospital, the department says officers attempted to enter the apartment of the woman involved in the altercation, but she had barricaded herself inside. After obtaining a warrant, the department says officers entered the apartment and “at some point” an officer shot the suspect, injuring her.
