Woman shot by stray gunfire in West Nashville neighborhood

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A seemingly innocent woman was caught in random gunfire on Labor Day and had to be taken to the hospital, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department. MNPD officers responded to the 900 block of 39th Avenue North for a reported shooting in West Nashville late Monday night. They arrived to find a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to one of her “extremities.” She was transported to the hospital and is expected to recover, according to MNPD. Police say their investigation shows that the woman was reportedly an innocent bystander who was struck by a stray bullet. Detectives are working to determine where the gunfire originated and identify the responsible parties.
