The aircraft went down during a water-drop operation in rugged terrain, killing both people on board and prompting investigations by federal aviation authorities. The crash happened at about 2:55 pm local time on September 20 in Mariposa County, southeast of Ostrander Lake, according to authorities. The helicopter was operated by Precision, a contractor supporting the wildlife response.
